Are you a creative and innovative thinker who has a proactive attitude towards collections development, with experience of library management systems?

The opening of The Amelia Scott in spring 2022 will create an amazing new facility to house art exhibitions, cultural resources, libraires, tourist information and Council services.  We have exciting new roles that will allow you to be part of this project from launch, providing an opportunity to assist in shaping the formation of the service, The Amelia, into a destination of national repute and a facility that will lead the way in delivering an integrated, visitor first, culture and community destination.  This journey will mean you deliver incredibly valuable and important services which will positively impact the lives of everyone in the community.  

We are looking for a talented individual to join the Collections Team as a Collections Development Librarian.

We take a holistic view of The Amelia’s collections — our collections and community are at the heart of everything we do. We work in a diverse range of collecting activity ranging from managing large scale strategic initiatives, to negotiating the purchase of a single item or the donation of a historically significant collection.

This role will be responsible for acquiring, organising, managing and distributing library resources, and ensuring that library provision meets the needs of all users of The Amelia. 

The successful candidate will play a leading role in developing collections that reflect and include all people living in our borough. This role will help to challenge traditional narratives as part of our wider mission and vision. For more information about the role please see the job description and person specification below.
